Popping and Locking is featured in many of the latest Street dance routines performed in the UK and world Hip Hop championships. These two specialised Hip Hop dance forms are very different with popping including robotics and glides and Locking including moves such as Knee Drops and Alphas.
Popping was created on the West coast of the USA whilst B-Boying / Breakdancing was developing in New York on the East coast. Michael Jackson was one of the most popular popping dancers performing moves such as the Moonwalk in his spectacular shows. Locking was said to be created by 'Don Campbell' in the 1960's and has a comedy element to it. By moving from a fast movement and then stopping suddenly the movement known as a 'Lock' was formed and Locking evolved from there. Now Locking has many movements and is practiced by many dancers around the globe.
Popping and Locking plays a big part in Hip Hop dance so if you are a keen street dancer and would like to be taught new exciting moves by a professional dance tutor contact us today.
